A Sweet Baby Card!

A Sweet Baby Card!

Hello there!

Today, I have a sweet card to welcome a new baby who will be loved beyond measure.  This card has a shaker element to it, but inside two of the squares which adds a fun element to the card.

Here is the card I will be discussing below:

To make this card, you will need the following from Kat Scrappiness:

Sentiment Shoppe - Within The Fold:  "Hello Sweet Baby" 6x6 Stamp Set

Kat's Essential Card Builder Craft Dies 2

Stitched Uppercase Alphabet Craft Dies

Spectrum of Love 6x6 Paper Pad

Puffy Clouds Sprinkles Mix

In addition, you will need the following:

Cardstock of your choice of color (i.e. blue, pink, yellow, etc.)

Foam Tape

Alcohol Inks or colored pencils

Clear acetate or leftover packaging

Black ink pad

White cardstock

Liquid adhesive or double sided tape

Now that you have everything gathered, let’s get started creating this adorable card!

Step #1 – Background panel

Select a sheet from the Spectrum of Love 6x6 Paper Pad and trim that down to an A2 sized card (4 ¼” by 5 ½”).  Hint:  Make sure the hearts are going the right way before cutting!  Set that aside.

Step #2 – Front panel

Die cut the Kat's Essential Card Builder Craft Dies 2 with a solid piece of cardstock and also with white cardstock.  Set both of the die cut pieces aside including the negative white card pieces:  four squares and the long center piece. You won’t need the ones from solid piece of cardstock or two of the white squares but be sure to save them for a future use!

Step #3 – The Word Baby

Die cut the letters for the word Baby using the Stitched Uppercase Alphabet Craft Dies, once with the colored cardstock, and three times with the white cardstock.  *You can go ahead and glue each of the white die cuts to the solid cardstock letters at this time and set them aside until later.

Here’s a pic of all of the above except for the long white center strip which I forgot to include:

Step #4 – Adding Acetate

Cut two small pieces of the acetate or leftover packaging.  Hint:  I took one of the negative squares that were die cut and used my scissors to cut the acetate a little larger than the square.  This way, I’m sure that will cover the entire square.

Adhere them to the back of the solid colored cardstock die cut from Step #2 using liquid adhesive or double sided tape.  I used the two middle squares on each side. Then, adhere the white cardstock die cut also cut from Step #2 to the back of the other one, sandwiching the acetate.

Next, add foam tape to the back along each side and each square.

Step #5 – Squares

I used the images from the Sentiment Shoppe - Within The Fold:  "Hello Sweet Baby" 6x6 Stamp Set and stamped them individually onto the squares.

I then colored them using alcohol markers.  (Note: I masked the images off and lightly ink blended a color to match the solid cardstock I’m using to give each image a little halo around them.  You can of course, just leave the area white or ink blend just around each corner.  I also lightly inked down the middle of the long center square.)

Step #6 – Adding Shaker Bits

The Puffy Clouds Sprinkles Mix has white, blue, and pink clouds.  Since I’m making a pink card, I separated the pink and white clouds from the blue clouds.  I turned over the front panel and dropped in the pink and white clouds onto the acetate squares.  I then removed the foam tape backing, lined up the back card panel (the heart panel from the Spectrum of Love 6x6 Paper Pad) and pressed down to adhere them together.  I let that sit for a bit before turning over to give it a good shake.

Step #7 – Inserting Squares

I used liquid adhesive to add my images into the squares and for the long center square.

Step #8 – Adding Baby

I used liquid adhesive to add the letters down the center, spacing them out evenly but a little extra space between the ‘A’ and the second ‘B’ to there’s a little room for the sentiment.

Step #9 – Sentiment

I chose to use the sentiment ‘Loved Beyond Measure’ from the Sentiment Shoppe - Within The Fold:  "Hello Sweet Baby" 6x6 Stamp Set.  I stamped that with black ink onto white cardstock.  You can either die cut that out with a small rectangle die cut, or trim using your paper trimmer.

I adhered that with liquid adhesive onto the card between the ‘A’ and second ‘B’.

Step #10 – Card Base

I used an A2 top folding card base and adhered the whole panel onto the card using liquid adhesive.

And that completes the front of the card!

Here is the completed card alongside another version but in blue!

Such a fun and unique card to put together.  There are so many sentiments from the Sentiment Shoppe - Within The Fold:  "Hello Sweet Baby" 6x6 Stamp Set that would be great for this card as well as on the inside!
