Oh Snap! Santa's on his way!

Oh Snap! Santa's on his way!

Hello friends!

It's beginning to smell a lot like Christmas… or maybe that's just a batch of freshly baked gingerbread cookies!  These little gingerbread cuties are ready to spread some holiday cheer, although I'm not entirely convinced they've stayed out of trouble in the kitchen! With a cookie sheet full of smiling faces and a little baking mischief, this festive card is serving up a sweet reminder that Santa's on his way! Now, if only these little guys would stop smiling long enough to help with the cleanup!

To create this card you will need the following products from Kat Scrappiness:

Kat's Color Studio Premium Cardstock - Neutrals Multipack

Kat's Color Studio Premium Cardstock - Smooth Bright White 120 lb

Gingerbread House Craft Dies

Perfect Pie Maker Add-ons Craft Dies

Simple Sentiments - Holiday Edition

Universal Simple Sentiments Coordinating Die

Classic White Pearl Mix

1/2" Stencil & Ink Soft Blending Brushes

In addition, you will need the following:

Gray, brown and black ink pads

Liquid Adhesive

Double sided foam tape/strips

Stamping positioner

Red marker

White gel pen

Die cutting machine

After all of the above are gathered, let's create the card!

Step 1 - Baking Sheet

Cut a piece of Pebble cardstock from the Kat's Premium Cardstock - Neutrals Multipack to 5 1/2" x 4/14".  Cut four additional strips of the same cardstock at 5 1/2" x 1/4".

Cut the corners of the strips at a diagonal so they will join together to create a frame.

Take the gray ink pad and a blending brush and ink blend around the card panel and the strips.  This will give the look of a well loved sheet pan.

Step 2 - Gingerbread cookies

Using the two gingerbread cookie die cuts from the Gingerbread House Craft dies, die cut six gingerbread cookies with the Caramel cardstock from Kat's Premium Cardstock - Neutrals Multipack.  Ink blend around each of them with the brown ink pad and a blending brush to give them fresh out of the oven crispness to the edges.

Next, take a white gel pen and go over the icing lines created by the gingerbread die cut.

Glue small Classic White Pearls onto each of the gingerbread cookies with liquid adhesive.

Step 3 - Spatula

Using the spatula craft die from the Perfect Pie Maker Add-ons Craft Dies, die cut using a piece of Onyx cardstock from Kat's Premium Cardstock - Neutrals Multipack and also with Kat's Premium Cardstock - Premium White 120 lb.

With the red marker, color the handle and then cut the handle when it reaches the flat part of the spatula.

Using liquid adhesive, adhere the red handle onto the black spatula.

Once that is dried, bend the spatula so the handle is raised a little.  This will help when you are adding the spatula to the baking sheet.

Step 4 - Sentiment

Stamp the Simple Sentiments - Holiday Edition with black ink pad with the help of your stamp positioner using Kat's Premium Cardstock - Bright White.  Die cut the sentiments using the Universal Simple Sentiments Coordinating Die.  Keep the 'Santa's On His Way' sentiment and save the others for future cards.

Step 5 - Assembling

Add double sided foam tape behind each of the 1/4" strips.  Remove the backing, add liquid adhesive onto the foam tape and adhere them to the card base.  Adding the liquid adhesive onto the foam tape gives you a little wiggle room so you have time to adjust the strips until the edges match up.

Add liquid adhesive behind five of the gingerbread cookies and adhere them to the card panel.

Add liquid adhesive onto the top of the spatula and add the remaining gingerbread cookie.  Add liquid adhesive behind this cookie, the spatula and the spatula handle.  Adhere that to the card panel, in the corner with the handle partially on top of the sheet pan.

Finally, add liquid adhesive behind the sentiment and add that to the card.

And that completes the card!

These cookies look good enough to eat!  I look forward to baking gingerbread cookies this holiday season and the aroma filling the house!
