Sketchy Sundays with Kelsey! You Made a Tiny Human!

Hello crafty friends!

I am back with another Sketchy Sunday card for you, this time featuring the Kat Scrappiness Woodland Critters and Hello Sweet Baby stamp sets.

Card Details:

  • Card Size: 4.25" x 5.5" (A2 size)
  • Colored Panel: 4" x 5.25"

Step-by-Step Tutorial:

Step 1:

First, I laid out the baby toys and sentiment from the Hello Sweet Baby stamp set onto my panel. I also added the bunny from the Woodland Critters set. I stamped them down on my panel using my stamp positioner and black ink. The sentiment reads "Congratulations! You made a tiny human!"

Step 2:

Next, I created a mask for the bear and stamped the block.

Step 3:

I then got to work sketching my scene. I wanted this card to look like we had walked into the baby's nursery and saw the toys on the floor. I first sketched in the floor, making sure to make the floor boards skinnier as they went back to create perspective in the scene. I also sketched in a crib and a banner around the sentiment. I always do this step in pencil so I can fix any mistakes or change my mind.

Step 4:

When I was happy with my sketch, I traced over the pencil lines with a black fine line marker and erased the pencil lines.

Step 5:

It is now time to color the scene. I used Prismacolor colored pencils. Specific colors are listed below:

  • Wall: Cerulean Blue, True Blue, and Non-Photo Blue
  • Banner, Crib, and Floor Board: 20% Cool Grey, 10% Cool Grey, and White
  • Floor: Dark Umber, Dark Brown, and Light Umber
  • Blanket: 30% Warm Grey, 20% Warm Grey, and 10% Warm Grey
  • Duck: Pumpkin Orange, Cadmium Orange Hue, Orange, Yellowed Orange, Sunburst Yellow, and Canary Yellow
  • Bunny: 70% French Grey, 50% French Grey, 30% French Grey, 20% French Grey, 10% French Grey, Black, Hot Pink, Pink, and Blush Pink
  • Block: Goldenrod, Jasmine, Eggshell, Yellowed Orange, Sunburst Yellow, Canary Yellow, Cerulean Blue, True Blue, and Non-Photo Blue

To finish the card, I glued the colored panel to a white A2 card base.
