Sketchy Sundays with Kelsey! Hay, Girl! Happy Birthday!

Hello crafty friends!

I am back with another Sketchy Sunday with fun products from Kat Scrappiness. Today I used the new Highland Mini Moos stamp set as my focal image for my card.

Card Details:

  • Card Size: 4.25" x 5.5" (A2 size)
  • Colored Panel: 4" x 5.25"

Step-by-Step Tutorial:

Step 1:

First, I trimmed a piece of white cardstock to 4.25" x 5.5" in size. I then stamped the adorable cow from the Highland Mini Moos set on the panel, just to the left and down from center, using black ink.

Step 2:

I then sketched in my scene using a pencil. I added a tree to the right side, sketched in some hills, and then added some shrubs to break up the ground/sky border.

Step 3:

When I was satisfied with my sketch, I traced over the lines using a black fine line marker and erased the pencil lines.

Step 4:

Next, I stamped my sentiment. I stamped "Hay Girl!" from the Highland Mini Moos Sentiments stamp set and then stamped "Happy birthday!" underneath from the Sentiment Sampler set.

Step 5:

It is now time to color the scene. I used Prismacolor colored pencils. Specific colors are below:

  • Tree Trunk: Dark Umber, Dark Brown, and Light Umber
  • Tree Leaves: Cobalt Turquoise, Peacock Green, and Parrot Green
  • Grass Hills: Dark Green, Apple Green, Spring Green, and Chartreuse
  • Shrubs: Peacock Green, Grass Green, True Green, and Light Green
  • Chicks: Orange, Yellowed Orange, Sunburst Yellow, and Canary Yellow
  • Bird: Crimson Lake, Crimson Red, Carmine Red, 70% French Grey, 50% French Grey, and 30% French Grey
  • Cow: Dark Green, Apple Green, Spring Green, Dark Brown, Sienna Brown, Goldenrod, Yellow Ochre, and Sand

Step 6:

I then trimmed the panel to 4" x 5.25" in size. Using a blending brush, I added some blue to the sky with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink.

To finish the card, I glued the whole panel to a white A2 card base.
