Hello crafty friends!
I am back with another Sketchy Sunday with fun products from Kat Scrappiness. Today I used the Fabulous Feathered Friends stamp set as the focal image for my scene.
Card Details:
- Card Size: 4.25" x 5.5" (A2 size)
- Colored Panel: 4" x 5.25"
Step-by-Step Tutorial:
Step 1:
First, I trimmed a piece of white cardstock to 4.25" x 5.5" in size. I then stamped the toucan from the Fabulous Feathered Friends stamp set using black ink.
Step 2:
I then created a mask for the toucan using a sticky note and two way glue.
Step 3:
Once my mask was in place, I then stamped the suitcase from the Fabulous Feathered Friends stamp set so that it was next to and slightly behind the toucan. I removed the mask after stamping.
Step 4:
Next, I sketched in my scene using a pencil. I added a dirt path, some grass and shrubs, and a hut to my scene.
Step 5:
When I was satisfied with my scene, I traced over the lines with a fine line black marker and erased the pencil lines.
Step 6:
It is now time to color our scene. I used Prismacolor colored pencils. Specific colors are below:
- Toucan: Black, 90% French Grey, 70% French Grey, 20% French Grey, 10% French Grey, White, Cadmium Orange Hue, Orange, Yellowed Orange, Sunburst Yellow, Copenhagen Blue, Cerulean Blue, and True Blue
- Dirt: Sienna Brown, Mineral Orange, Goldenrod, Dark Umber, Dark Brown, and Light Umber
- Grass: Dark Green, Apple Green, Spring Green, and Chartreuse
- Shrubs: Dark Green, Apple Green, and Spring Green
- Hut Roof: Light Umber, Goldenrod, and Jasmine
- Hut Walls: Dark Brown, Light Umber, and Goldenrod
- Door/Frame: Dark Umber, Dark Brown, and Light Umber
- Door Knob: Black, 90% Cool Grey, and 70% Cool Grey
- Coconut: Dark Umber, Dark Brown, Light Umber, 20% French Grey, 10% French Grey, and White
- Suitcase: Black, 90% Cool Grey, 70% Cool Grey, 50% Cool Grey, and 30% Cool Grey
- Pink Elements: Pomegranate, Process Red, and Hot Pink
- Blue Elements: Copenhagen Blue, Cerulean Blue, and True Blue
- Orange Elements: Cadmium Orange Hue, Orange, and Yellowed Orange
After I was done coloring, I trimmed the panel to 4" x 5.25" in size.
Step 7:
Next, I used the Clouds and Grass 6x6 Layered Stencil set, a mini blending brush, and Tumbled Glass Distress Ink to add some clouds to my panel.
Step 8:
For the stamped sentiment, I used the Fabulous Feathered Friends stamp set. I selected the sentiment that reads "Life is better with fabulous friends!" I used a stamp positioner and tape to mask of the sentiment and stamp it in two parts in the clouds.
Step 9:
To complete the sentiment for the card, I die cut the word "thanks" from white cardstock using the Thanks Shadow Sentiment craft die. I then used a Kat's Crafty Dabber to add blue ink to it so it would stand out.
I finished the card by gluing the sentiment to my colored panel and then gluing the whole panel to a white A2 card base.
