Sketchy Sundays with Kelsey! Spooky Halloween Coffee Cup

Hello crafty friends!

I am back with another Sketchy Sunday with fun products from Kat Scrappiness. Today I used the Witchy Boo Crew stamp set along with tons of other products from the shop for my card. I switched things up this time and combined sketching with die cutting to make my scene.

Card Details:

Card Size: 4.25" x 5.5" (A2 size)

Step-by-Step Tutorial:

Step 1:

First, I used the Layered Coffee Cup Craft Dies to cut out the cup and the lid pieces from white cardstock.

Step 2:

I then stamped the cat and bat from the Witchy Boo Crew stamp set onto the cup using black ink.

Step 3:

Next, I sketched in a tree using a pencil.

Step 4:

When I was satisfied with my sketch, I traced over the lines with a black fine line marker and erased the pencil lines.

Step 5:

It is now time to color our scene. I used Prismacolor colored pencils. Specific colors are below:

Cat: Black, 90% French Grey, 70% French Grey, 50% French Grey, and 30% French Grey
Bat: Dioxazine Purple Hue, Violet, Parma Violet, and Lilac
Tree: Black, 90% Cool Grey, and 70% Cool Grey

Step 6:

To create the background for my scene, I used sticky notes and repositionable adhesive to create masks. I stamped the cat and bat from the Witchy Boo Crew set, traced a small circle for the moon, and cut a sticky note with a wavy line to create the ground/sky masks. I fussy cut around the stamped/traced masks with my scissors. I placed the cat, bat, moon, and sky masks in place.

Step 7:

I then used mini blending brushes and Twisted Citron, Mowed Lawn, and Rustic Wilderness Distress Inks to ink up my ground. I removed the sky mask after inking, being careful not to pull up the other masks.

Step 8:

I placed the ground mask in place and then inked up the sky using mini blending brushes and Dusty Concord, Chipped Sapphire, and Black Soot Distress Inks. I then removed all of the masks from the cup to reveal the scene.

Step 9:

Next, I inked up the coffee cup lid using mini blending brushes and Pumice Stone and Black Soot Distress Inks. I set them aside to dry as I worked on the rest of the card.

Step 10:

I trimmed a piece of Kat's Color Studio Premium Cardstock - Smooth Bright White to 4.25" x 5.5" in size. I then die cut it using the largest die from the Stitched Fancy Scalloped Rectangles die set.

Step 11:

I then used the same Distress Inks that I used for the coffee cup to blend my background using large blending brushes.

Step 12:

I used a white paint pen to add some stars to my background and set it aside to dry.

Step 13:

I used the Crafters Essentials Halloween dies to cut out a fence and tree from black cardstock and a moon from white. These will be used to build the background scene for my card.
