Sketchy Sundays with Kelsey! Summer Quokka

Sketchy Sundays with Kelsey! Summer Quokka

Hello crafty friends!

I am back with another Sketchy Sunday with fun products from Kat Scrappiness. Today I used the Summer Quokka and Summer Gnome stamp sets for my sketchy card.

Card Details:

  • Card Size: 4.25" x 5.5" (A2 size)
  • Colored Panel: 4" x 5.25"

Step-by-Step Tutorial:

Step 1:

First, I trimmed a piece of white cardstock to 4.25" x 5.5" in size. I then stamped the quokka and bucket from the Summer Quokka set and the beach ball from the Summer Gnome set on the panel using black ink.

Step 2:

Next, I created a mask for my quokka using a sticky note and repositionable adhesive.

Step 3:

I then stamped the umbrella from the Summer Quokka set so that it looked like it was planted behind the quokka.

Step 4:

I then started sketching my scene using a pencil. I added a sand line behind the quokka and then used a ruler to add a fence. I also sketched some palm leaves at the top of my panel and added a cute little crab at the bottom. I sketched in a few rocks as well.

Step 5:

When I was satisfied with my sketch, I traced over the lines with a fine tip black marker and then erased the pencil lines.

Step 6:

It is now time to color our scene. I used Prismacolor colored pencils. Specific colors are below:

  • Palm Leaves: Apple Green, Spring Green, and Chartreuse
  • Fence: 20% Warm Grey, 10% Warm Grey, and White
  • Metal Elements: 30% Cool Grey, 20% Cool Grey, and 10% Cool Grey
  • Umbrella and Beach Ball: Crimson Lake, Crimson Red, Carmine Red, Cadmium Orange Hue, Orange, Yellowed Orange, Sunburst Yellow, Canary Yellow, Deco Yellow, Apple Green, Spring Green, Chartreuse, Copenhagen Blue, True Blue, Non-Photo Blue, Dioxazine Purple Hue, Violet, and Lilac
  • Quokka: Sienna Brown, Mineral Orange, Goldenrod, Black, 90% French Grey, and 70% French Grey
  • Sunglasses and Shorts: Black, 90% Cool Grey, 70% Cool Grey, Apple Green, Spring Green, and Chartreuse
  • Drink: Cadmium Orange Hue, Orange, and Yellowed Orange
  • Sand and Rocks: Sienna Brown, Mineral Orange, Goldenrod, Sand, Dark Umber, Dark Brown, and Light Umber
  • Sky: Blue Violet Lake, Blue Slate, and Powder Blue
  • Crab: Crimson Lake, Crimson Red, and Carmine Red
  • Bucket and Shovel: Dioxazine Purple Hue, Violet, and Lilac

Step 7:

For the sentiment, I stamped "Sending a little sunshine your way!" from the Sentiment Sampler stamp set and trimmed it down. I also trimmed the panel to 4" x 5.25" in size.

To finish the card, I glued the sentiment to the panel and then glued the whole colored panel to a white A2 card base that I made using the new Kat's Color Studio Smooth White cardstock.
