Hello crafty friends!
I am back with another Sketchy Sunday with fun products from Kat Scrappiness. Today I used the Woodland Critters stamp set as my focal image for my sketchy scene.
Card Details:
- Card Size: 4.25" x 5.5" (A2 size)
- Colored Panel: 4" x 5.25"
Step-by-Step Tutorial:
Step 1:
First, I trimmed a piece of white cardstock to 4.25" x. 5.5" in size. I then stamped the bunny from the Woodland Critters stamp set using black ink. I also stamped the sentiment from the Woodland Critter Sentiments set. The sentiment reads "A little critter told me it's your birthday!"
Step 2:
Next, I began sketching my scene using a pencil. I added a "party" banner across the top o the card, then sketched in a ground line. I also added some balloons and gifts to the scene.
Step 3:
When I was satisfied with my scene, I traced the pencil lines with a fine line black marker and erased the pencil lines.
Step 4:
It is now time to color our scene. I used Prismacolor colored pencils. Specific colors are below:
- Bunny: 70% French Grey, 50% French Grey, 30% French Grey, 20% French Grey, and 10% French Grey
- Party Elements: Pomegranate, Process Red, Hot Pink, Dark Purple, Dahlia Purple, and Mulberry
Step 5:
Next, I used blending brushes and Distress Inks to add a ground and a sky. I used Twisted Citron, Mowed Lawn, and Rustic Wilderness for the ground and Tumbled Glass, Broken China, and Salty Ocean for the sky. This part of the card got a little messy. My ink blending pulled some of the purple and pink pencil into the background, but since I was planning to make this into a shaker card, I wasn't too concerned. If you are, you can always use some masking fluid to protect your scene.
Step 6:
To create a shaker pouch, I cut a piece of packaging a little larger than my panel and put 1/8" double sided tape along the edges of the back of my card panel. I placed the panel face down on the packaging. I then removed the backing paper from three sides and folded the plastic packaging over the panel. For this step, a full front A2 shaker card pocket would work well. I didn't have any, so I opted for the packaging method.
Step 7:
Next, I filled my shaker with some sequins from my stash. I didn't have a color I liked from Kat Scrappiness at the time I made this card, but I would recommend the Fairytale Princess Sequin Mix for this card.
To finish the card, I glued the whole panel to a white A2 card base.
