Hello crafty friends!
I am back with another Sketchy Sunday with fun products from Kat Scrappiness. Today I used the Christmas Gnome stamp set as the focal image for my sketchy card.
Card Details:
- Card Size: 4.25" x 5.5" (A2 size)
- Colored Panel: 4" x 5.25"
Step-by-Step Tutorial:
Step 1:
First, I trimmed a piece of white cardstock to 4.25" x. 5.5" in size. I then stamped the gnome sitting on a chimney from the Christmas Gnome stamp set using black ink.
Step 2:
Next, I sketched in a roof using a pencil.
Step 3:
When I was satisfied with my sketching, I traced over the lines using a black fine line marker and erased the pencil lines.
Step 4:
I then created some masks for my scene using sticky notes. I masked off the gnome and created a circle mask to use as a moon. I used two way glue and let it dry until tacky, then placed my masks on my card panel.
Step 5:
I wanted a night time scene for my card. I used a foam blending tool and Salty Ocean, Chipped Sapphire, and Black Soot Distress Inks to add some color to my sky, leaving a lighter ring around the moon. I intended to color my roof and chimney with darker colors, so I wasn't worried about masking them off. If you are going to use lighter colors, use a piece of low tack tape to protect your roof.
Step 6:
I then used a white paint pen to add some stars to my background. Make sure your Distress Ink is dry at this stage or you will risk your paint pen picking up the ink. You can also use a white gel pen at this step.
Step 7:
It is now time to remove the masks and reveal the ink blended sky.
Step 8:
It is now time to color our scene. I used Prismacolor colored pencils. Specific colors are below:
- Moon: 50% French Grey, 30% French Grey, 20% French Grey, 10% French Grey, and White
- Beard/Trim: 30% Warm Grey, 20% Warm Grey, 10% Warm Grey, and White
- Skin: Burnt Ochre, Nectar, and Peach
- Black Elements: Black, 90% French Grey, and 70% French Grey
- Buckle: Pumpkin Orange, Mineral Orange, and Yellowed Orange
- Suit: Black Raspberry, Tuscan Red, and Crimson Lake
- Chimney: Terra Cotta, Burnt Ochre, and Henna
- Roof: Black, 90% French Grey, 70% French Grey, and 50% French Grey
Step 9:
For the sentiment, I stamped "Christmas is Gnoming!" from the Christmas Gnome stamp set on a white strip using black ink. I then die cut "believe" from white using the Believe Shadow Sentiment craft dies.
Step 10:
I wanted some more stars in my sky, so I added some Moonlight Glow in the Dark Sprinkles to my scene.
To finish the card, I glued the panel to a white A2 card base made using Kat's Color Studio Smooth White Cardstock.
