Sketchy Sundays with Kelsey! You Are Never Too Old To Play In The Leaves!

Hello crafty friends!

I am back with another Sketchy Sunday with fun products from Kat Scrappiness. Today I used the Dress Up Quokkas stamp set for the focal point on my card.

Card Details:

  • Card Size: 4.25" x 5.5" (A2 size)
  • Colored Panel: 4" x 5.25"

Step-by-Step Tutorial:

Step 1:

First, I trimmed a piece of Kat's Color Studio Smooth Bright White Cardstock to 4.25" x 5.5" in size. I then stamped the quokka from the Dress Up Quokkas stamp set using black ink.

Step 2:

I then sketched in my scene using a pencil. I added a ground and a tree.

Step 3:

When I was satisfied with my scene, I traced over the lines with a black fine line marker and then erased the pencil lines.

Step 4:

Next, I stamped some leaves from the Happy Fall Y'all stamp set onto a scrap of white cardstock using black ink.

Steps 5 and 6:

It is now time to color our scene and leaves. I used Prismacolor colored pencils. Specific colors are below:

  • Quokka: Black, 90% French Grey, 70% French Grey, Sienna Brown, Mineral Orange, and Goldenrod
  • Grass: Olive Green, Apple Green, and Lime Peel
  • Tree Trunk: Dark Umber, Dark Brown, and Light Umber
  • Orange Leaves: Terra Cotta, Pumpkin Orange, and Cadmium Orange Hue
  • Yellow Leaves: Yellowed Orange, Sunburst Yellow, and Canary Yellow
  • Red Leaves: Crimson Lake, Scarlet Lake, and Poppy Red

I fussy cut around the leaves after coloring them and trimmed the colored panel to 4" x 5.25" in size.

Step 7:

Next, I added some clouds to my sky using the Clouds and Grass 6x6 Layered Stencil set, Tumbled Glass Distress Ink, and a mini blending brush

Step 8:

For my sentiment, I first started by stamping a sentiment from the Happy Fall Y'all set onto my panel. The sentiment reads "you are never too old to play in the leaves..."

Step 9:

For the rest of the sentiment, I die cut the words "happy fall" from black cardstock using the Happy Fall Shadow Sentiment die set. I glued the words above my stamped sentiment.

Step 10:

Next, I added some leaves to my scene. I created a pile of leaves for the quokka to stand in and then arranged some leaves in the sky and the ground to make it look like leaves were floating down from the trees.

To finish my card, I glued the panel to an A2 card base made using Kat's Color Studio Premium Cardstock in the color Soft Sky.
