Trick or Treat: Dripping with Fun

Trick or Treat: Dripping with Fun

Hey crafty friends! Today, I am sharing a fun Halloween card that combines a few of my favourite Kat Scrappiness products to create a super layered, dimensional look.

The Textured Mummy Background

To build a dimension-rich backdrop, I started by die-cutting four background panels using the Mummy Wrappings Background die in sleek black cardstock. I rotated one panel upside down and glued it directly behind the first to instantly double the line detail. Next, I snipped random wrapping pieces from the remaining two die cuts and layered them on top to build realistic, spooky texture.

The Candy Corn Shaker Feature
For the focal point, I arranged strips of cardstock onto scrap paper in classic candy corn colours: yellow, orange, and white. I die cut this custom striped pattern using the outline die from the Shake Your Candy Corn shaker dies set. To give the shaker its depth, I cut six additional outline pieces from plain white cardstock, stacking and gluing them together to create the shaker walls. Finally, I filled the inside with adorable Candy Corn shaker dots before sealing it up.

The Dripping Sentiment
The final touch was the sentiment, featuring the Spooky Trick or Treat shadow sentiment dies. I cut the main letters in bright yellow and the shadow layer in bold black. To give the words a creepy, wet, dripping effect, I coated the yellow letters in Glossy Accents. Once dry, I added quick highlights along the letter curves using a white gel pen to make the sentiment pop against the dark background.
