A Little Honey, A Lot of Trouble

A Little Honey, A Lot of Trouble

Hello Crafty Friends!

Uh-oh!  Looks like someone might have gotten into a sticky situation!  With a pot of honey, a couple of curious bees, and an adorable little bear, this woodland scene has all the makings of a little mischief.  The sentiment makes me wonder what kind of trouble this sweet little guy has gotten himself into!  Maybe he helped himself to a little too much honey...or perhaps he just couldn't resist a little bear-y bad behavior!  Whatever happened, I think this cutie is hoping his charm will get him out of trouble.  Come take a peek at how I brought this playful scene to life!

To create this card you will need the following items from Kat Scrappiness:

Hundred Acre Bridge Background Craft Die

Hundred Acre Quokka Stamp Set

Hundred Acre Quokka Coordinating Craft Dies

Scene Build 6x6 Stencil

(Chunky) Sorry Shadow Sentiment Craft Dies

Slimline Grass Border Craft Die

Sunflower Seed Symphony Sprinkle Mix

Kat's Color Studio Premium Cardstock - Neutrals Multipack

Kat's Color Studio Premium Cardstock Smooth Bright White

1/2" Stencil & Ink Soft Blending Brushes or Kat's Crafty Dabbers

In addition to the above, you will need:

Die Cutting Machine

Liquid Adhesive

Ink pads in colors: greens, browns, blues

Alcohol inks or colored pencils

Ok, let's create the card!

Step 1 - Background

Cut a piece of white cardstock to an A2 size card base (4 1/4" by 5 1/2").  Take the cloud stencil, blue ink pad, and a blending brush or a dabber and ink blend onto the card base.

Step 2 - Grass

Using the Slimline Grass Border Craft Die, cut two pieces of white cardstock and ink blend green ink so there's a gradation.  You will be layering them on top of each other so trim the pieces so one is taller than the other.

Step 3 - Trees

Using the Hundred Acre Bridge Background Craft Die, die cut this using white cardstock.  You will only need the trees so save the rest for a later project.  Since the leaves of the trees are one piece, you will need to cut this into two pieces.  I cut them going by the curve line of the leaves.  In the pic below you will see the pencil line and how I cut the pieces apart.  The 'x' piece will not be used so you can toss that piece.  After you have the leaves cut apart, ink blend them using green inks and your brush or dabber.  Ink blend the trees using a brown ink pad and your brush or dabber as well.

Step 4 - Quokka and bees

Stamp, color and die cut the bear quokka and two bees.  In the picture below, I have two butterflies from the stamp set but I ended up not using them for the final card.

Step 5 - The Sorry Sentiment

Die cut the shadow layer in black cardstock.  Die cut the word die in white cardstock and adhere them together using liquid adhesive and set aside so they can dry.

Step 6 - Assembling the card

Starting with the leaves, adhere them using liquid adhesive to each of the top corners.

Add liquid adhesive behind the trees and adhere them to the card, below the leaves.

Next, add the taller grass to the bottom of the card base using liquid adhesive.

Add liquid adhesive behind the 'Sorry' and add that to the card base, tucking it behind some of the grass.

Now you can add the top grass layer by adding some liquid adhesive and applying that on top of the other grass die cut.

Next, add the quokka to the bottom right side of the card with liquid adhesive.  Put a heavy block on top so it can adhere fully.

Then add the honey pot and the bees.

Finally, add the sunflowers onto the grass with liquid adhesive in groups of three.

And that completes the card base.  You can adhere this to an A2 sized side folding note card to finish the card and write your message inside.  In the picture below, I have the card base on top of a piece of black cardstock for added detail.

This card came out really cute.  It is quite simple and easy to put together.  For whatever you need to say sorry, this card send the message but being cute at the same time.
