Hello, crafty friends!
Halloween crafting doesn’t always have to mean orange, purple, and black! Today I’m sharing a decidedly pink take on Halloween featuring an adorable little witchy quokka, lots of spiderwebs, and just the right amount of sparkle.
Creating the Card Base
I started with a gray card base and added white splatters across the background to give it a little extra texture and interest.
Next, I cut a piece of black cardstock to create a bold mat for my focal panel. The black provides a nice contrast between the soft gray background and all that fabulous pink!
For the center panel, I chose the bright pink spiderweb design from the Spooky Cute Pink Pattern Paper pad and cut it with one of the Notched Corner Rectangle Dies. I love how those decorative corners add a subtle detail without competing with the patterned paper.
Building the Witchy Quokka
The star of the card is, of course, the quokka!
I used the Festive Quokka Dies to build my little Halloween friend from brown cardstock. I added ink around some of the edges of the pieces before assembling them to give the quokka a little extra definition and dimension.
Then it was time for the Halloween accessories! I gave the quokka a black witch hat with bright pink accents and a sparkly buckle, along with an oversized pink-and-white swirled lollipop.
A few tiny details, including the eyes, eyelashes, smile, and rosy little tongue, really bring this cutie to life.
Adding Some Creepy Crawly Details
To frame the focal panel, I used the Creepy Crawly Dies to cut spiderwebs from white glitter cardstock.
Rather than covering the entire background, I tucked portions of the webs into opposite corners of the card. This gave me some extra Halloween sparkle while still leaving plenty of that gray background visible.
The Perfect Little Sentiment
For the sentiment, I stamped “Hey Boo” from the Simple Sentiments Stamp – Halloween Edition.
I used the Universal Simple Sentiments Coordinating Die to cut it out and placed it near the top of the patterned panel.
I love a tiny sentiment with a little personality, and “Hey Boo” seemed just right for this witchy little quokka!
Finishing the Card
Once everything was assembled, I adhered the pink panel to the black mat and added my quokka as the focal point using dimensional adhesive.
Between the bright pink spiderweb paper, glittery webs, witch hat, giant lollipop, and adorable quokka, this card has plenty of Halloween personality without being scary at all.
Sometimes Halloween just needs a little more pink!
