Sketchy Sundays with Kelsey! Christmas Wishes

Sketchy Sundays with Kelsey! Christmas Wishes

Hello crafty friends!

I am back with another Sketchy Sunday with fun products from Kat Scrappiness. Today I used the Nutcracker stamp set as the focal image for my scene.

Card Details:

  • Card Size: 4.25" x 5.5" (A2 size)
  • Colored Panel: 4" x 5.25"

Step-by-Step Tutorial:

Step 1:

First, I trimmed a piece of white cardstock to 4.25" x 5.5" in size. I then stamped the ballerina and two mice from the Nutcracker stamp set using black ink.

Step 2:

Next, I sketched in my scene using a pencil. I added a floor, some gifts, and a curtain for the stage.

Step 3:

When I was satisfied with my scene, I traced over the lines with a black fine line marker and erased the pencil lines.

Step 4:

It is now time to color our scene. I used Prismacolor colored pencils. Specific colors are below.

  • Mice: 30% Warm Grey, 20% Warm Grey, 10% Warm Grey, Deco Pink, and Black
  • Floor: Dark Umber, Dark Brown, and Light Umber
  • Curtains: Cobalt Turquoise, Aquamarine, and Light Aqua
  • Gifts: Cobalt Turquoise, Aquamarine, Light Aqua, Pink, Blush Pink, and Deco Pink
  • Wall: 20% Cool Grey, 10% Cool Grey, and White
  • Ballerina: Dark Umber, Dark Brown, Light Umber, Burnt Ochre, Nectar, Peach, Sunburst Yellow, Canary Yellow, Deco Yellow, Cobalt Turquoise, Aquamarine, Light Aqua, Pink, Blush Pink, and Deco Pink

I then trimmed the panel to 4" x 5.25" in size.

Step 5:

To create a sentiment for my card, I used the Christmas Wishes Word Dies with Shadow to cut out the words "Christmas Wishes" from white cardstock. I then used a Kat's Crafty Dabber and Spun Sugar Distress Ink to add some color to the bottoms of the words.

To finish the card, I glued the sentiment centered at the top of the colored panel and then glued the panel to a white A2 card base made using Kat's Color Studio Premium Smooth White Cardstock.
