Sip, Sip, Hooray! Tropical Flamingo Birthday Card

Sip, Sip, Hooray! Tropical Flamingo Birthday Card

Hello, crafty friends!

Today I’m sharing a fun tropical birthday card featuring one very fabulous flamingo! Between the bright lime green, tropical leaves, and his tiny coconut drink, this card definitely brings some vacation vibes.

Creating the Background

I started with a panel of Kat Scrappiness Bright White Cardstock for my card base.

To add some subtle texture without taking away from the focal image, I die cut tropical leaves from white cardstock using the Tropical Hibiscus Flower Dies and arranged them around the outer edges of the card. I love the tone-on-tone effect—it adds interest while still keeping the background light and clean.

For the center panel, I used the Stitched Rectangle Dies to cut a smaller rectangle from white cardstock.

I then ink blended the panel with a bright lime green ink. Before blending, I stamped several tropical leaf images with embossing ink and heat embossed them in white. Once the green ink was blended over the top, the white leaves really popped against the background.

Adding the Flamingo

The star of the card is this fun flamingo from the Fabulous Feathered Friends Stamp Set.

I stamped the image in black ink and colored him with Copic markers in bright tropical shades, including pink, lime green, aqua, and a touch of orange. After coloring, I used the coordinating Fabulous Feathered Friends Dies to cut him out.

I adhered the flamingo to the center of the green panel with foam adhesive to give him a little extra dimension.

Adding the Sentiment

I stamped two coordinating sentiments from the Fabulous Feathered Friends Stamp Set:

“Sip, sip, hooray!”

and

“Have a flamazing birthday!”

After die cutting them with the coordinating dies, I added them beneath the flamingo using foam adhesive.

Finishing Touches

To finish the card, I scattered several gems from the Lime Green Jewel Mix around the design.

The jewels add just the right amount of sparkle and help tie the bright green elements together.

I love how this card combines a clean white background with lots of tropical texture, bright color, and dimension. And really, who wouldn’t want to receive a birthday card featuring a flamingo sipping from a coconut?

Thanks so much for stopping by today, and happy crafting!
