Hello, crafty friends!
Today I’m sharing a bright and cheerful summer card featuring chocolate-dipped popsicles, sunny colors, and plenty of texture. This project was so much fun to create, and the yellow, orange, turquoise, and chocolate-brown color combination feels perfect for a warm summer day.
Creating the Background
I started with the Peacock Background Die to cut the detailed pattern from a separate panel of white cardstock.
Next, I blended yellow and orange Distressed Oxide inks across the panel, concentrating the deeper orange color near the center and allowing it to fade into yellow toward the edges. The intricate die-cut design lets the white card base show through, creating a bright, lace-like background with lots of movement and texture.
Making the Popsicles
I used the Summer Fun Essential Dies to create two popsicles from turquoise, brown, and kraft cardstock.
For the chocolate-dipped tops, I added a glossy accents finish to the brown cardstock to give them the look of real melted chocolate. I then assembled the popsicles and tucked them slightly behind one another near the top of the card.
Adding the Sentiment
The large sentiment was created with the Happy Summer Word and Shadow Die.
I die cut the shadow layer from chocolate-brown cardstock and cut the words from white cardstock and used the same yellow and orange Oxide inks as the background.
I adhered the sentiment across the lower portion of the popsicles, using dimensional adhesive to add extra depth.
Finishing the Card
To finish the card, I added pearls from the Bumble Bee Pearl Mix, Coffee Pearl Mix, and Orange Creamsicle Pearl Mix.
I scattered the pearls around the background in small groups, using colors that coordinated with the sentiment, popsicles, and ink blending. They add just the right amount of shine without taking attention away from the main design.
I love how cheerful this card turned out. The bright colors, chocolate-dipped treats, and playful sentiment make it perfect for sending a little summertime happiness!
